FOOD businesses in Sedgemoor are being alerted to changes in product labelling.
From December 13, all prepacked and loose food sold direct to the consumer must advise of potential allergens that could lead to severe reactions.
There are 14 allergens listed and the presence of any of these must appear on labels – or with food sold in cafes, delis, supermarkets and restaurants customers must be advised.
Sedgemoor’s Food Safety Team is advising food businesses of the changes – information leaflets are available online at www.food.gov.uk/aboutus/publications#toc-4
