A GROUP of Burnham mums have come together to organise a Hallowe’en party this weekend to raise funds for charity.

The event on Sunday at the Ritz Social Club will raise money for the Cots for Tots appeal at the West Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol.

It was inspired by one-year-old Mackenzie Morris who was born more than three months’ prematurely and was treated at the unit.

Debbie, Mackenzie’s mum, said: “It was the other mums who actually decided on the fundraiser.

“I was thrilled to find out and a bit emotional that they decided to do it in honour of Mackenzie.

“The staff at the hospital were absolutely fantastic while we were there, the care they provided Mackenzie and also to us as parents was amazing.

I really can’t say enough about them.”

Mackenzie, who spent six months in NICU, will unfortunately not be able to attend the party after undergoing further surgery earlier this week.

Speaking to the Weekly News, Debbie said: “It’s a shame we can’t actually be there.

“The surgery has gone really well though, there were no complications and hopefully he’ll be out soon enough.”

The event will include a Hallowe’en fancy-dress competition for babies (0- 12months), siblings one to three years and siblings four years and over with a photographer available to take Hallowe’en pictures with all proceeds being donated the Cots for Tots appeal.

There will also be a raffle with many prizes donated by local businesses plus a cake sale. The event will be held 1.30pm to 4.30pm and entry is £1.
