Both Burnham-on-Sea RNLI Lifeboats were launched on Sunday after a call to help a disorientated beach walker.
Milford Haven Coastguard control paged Burnham-on-Sea RNLI volunteers at 8.35 pm after a beach walker had lost her way on Berrow beach.
She had become confused by the exceptionally high tide, and was "deemed to be at risk".
Both boats were launched, which also necessitated the opening of the jetty flood gates by on duty environment agency workers, and proceeded to the targeted area, just past the wreck of the Nornen on Berrow beach.
Before the boats arrival on scene, Burnham-on-Sea Coastguard rescue team had accessed the beach and were able to locate the woman.
Both lifeboats returned to Burnham-on-Sea for recovery at approximately 9.30 pm, with wash-down by the shore team and boat crew volunteers.
Helmsman Nick Prout said: “We were tasked to assist Coastguard team members in the search for a woman, on Berrow beach. Coastguard located the woman and were able to assist her, enabling us to stand down and return to Burnham.”
