RESIDENTS in a Burnham-on-Sea road are fed up with commuters, shoppers and visitors parking in their road and blocking their drives.

A group of 20 locals from Margaret Crescent just off the seafront have signed a petition and handed it into Somerset County Highways Division asking for action to be taken.

Their leader who is only known as Roger, told the Burnham and Highbridge News that on occasion residents cannot get out of their driveways or even return home by car as the road is parked up on both sides. Inconsiderate motorists have parked on both sides of the road creating a chicane effect he said often making it impossible for residents to manoeuvre into their driveways or even drive the road.

One resident called for residents' parking but this was rejected by Roger as this would be a cost to locals he said. He suggested restricting the amount of time a motorist could leave their car to discourage commuters who leave their car all day or visitors who have come for the day.
