PLANS have been submitted to bring 16 business starter units to Siger Drive in Highbridge.

Yeo Valley Properties is seeking full planning permission to bring “various sized units” that will have “considerable potential for different employment opportunities”.

Sedgemoor District Council has designated the land as an allocated site within the extension proposals for Isleport Business Park.

The proposed 0.67-hectare site is located to the east of Bennett Road and is close to the Travelodge hotel and Aldi supermarket.

The planning statement, submitted by Delta Architects on behalf of the client, said: “The current site is vacant scrubland with a variety of industrial buildings to the south and west.

“There is no ‘style’ as such to be considered, and each building appears to have been a bespoke solution to the clients’ needs.

“Our proposal is for a contemporary warehouse/light industrial units that reflects the aspirations of our client.

“The buildings comprise of various sized units to ensure that there is considerable potential for different employment opportunities.

“Having previously been granted planning permission in 2016 (11/16//00117), it is clear there is huge potential within the area to develop the proposed.”

The proposals say there will be 55 parking spaces for cars and 15 for vans.

It adds: “Ample car/van parking is included as part of the development, along with safe commercial vehicle access, carefully integrating pedestrian and vehicle movement, and car parking to ensure friendly public spaces.

“We understand the need to pursue measures to reduce car usage, therefore introducing cycling by creating well-lit overlooked pedestrian/cyclist routes through the development will help achieve this. “
