OVER £100,000 was awarded to a church in the Burnham-on-Sea area this year as part of the government's scheme to protect and support religious buildings.
St Peter and All Hallows Church in West Huntspill was granted a colossal £108,138.40 thanks to the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme.
It was one of three churches in the Burnham and Highbridge area to receive a share of the UK Government's £42 million conservation fund.
St Mary's Church East Brent was awarded £17,104.06, and Holy Cross Church in Mark was granted £34,799.71.
In Bridgwater, the Baptist Church was awarded £102,667.93 as one of 13 churches in the area which received money from the scheme.
