LOCALS to the Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge area can make their voices heard at the upcoming Annual Towns Meeting.

On Tuesday, April 16, from 7pm at The Princess Theatre in Burnham-on-Sea, all of the area's town councillors will congregate to answer questions, in addition to a speech from the mayor.

Those hoping to pose questions to the town council should contact the Town Clerk in writing at least seven days prior to the meeting - either by an email to info@burnham-highbridge-tc.gov.uk or by a letter to Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, The Old Courthouse, Jaycroft Road, Burnham, TA81LE.

A spokesperson said: "Come and see what Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council does, and meet your town's councillors.

"The mayor will give her annual report and the public has the opportunity to ask the town council any questions."

Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council recently decided upon its budget for 2024 - it includes a projected income of £118,025 and expenditure of £1,070,926 for the 2024/25 period.

The extra expenditure will be funded by a precept of £952,901, which will form part of the council tax in alignment with the requirements of Somerset Council and the police.

This equates to an increase in the town council element of £27.31 per year to a Band D property to £143.41, a weekly increase of just over 50p - one of the lowest increases in Somerset.
