A HISTORIC photo taken of Burnham-on-Sea in the 1950s provides a perfect reference point to see how the seafront has changed over the years.
The photo was taken from the top of The Reed's Arms (now Wetherspoons) around 70 years ago.
In the picture, a motorcycle and sidecar can be seen, along with several now classic cars, and an old bus.
Families can be seen sat on the beach wearing traditional full-coverage swimming costumes, and enjoying a seaside picnic.
The pier does not have appeared to have changed too much since the 50s, but the building next to the Reed's Arms has been replaced by Showboat Amusements.
The bus stop sign to the right hand side of the picture displays the word 'Regent', marking a stop/station on the corner of Regent Street.
Former houses facing the sea have since become shops, such as HazzaVapes, Shirley Sparkles, and eateries such as the Esplanade Fish Bar.
