BAD NEWS for trainspotters as the Flying Scotsman will not be passing through Taunton tomorrow.
Orginally planned to be running from Bristol to Taunton after arrival from London Paddington, the train will now head straight to Salisbury for a circular trip to South Hampton and back.
The Flying Scotsman underwent ten years and £4.2 million of restorations, and is now touring the country through May to September to celebrate.
But due to engineering problems, Somerset will miss out.
Paul Conibeare, general manager of West Somerset Railway, said: "The train will now go through Salisbury instead.
"We were never going to be a main stop, only to refuel, but people would have liked to see it pass through.
"We have no current plans for the Scotsman to pass through Taunton or the South West, but we wouldn't like to say never."
