WEDMORE’S score of 102-7 was never going to be enough to beat Westlands 2nds in their Shrubbery Somerset Cricket League Division Three clash as the visitors reached 103-4 to win comfortably.

The home side’s strongest batsman was A. Cook (30) with P. Patch (17) and M.

Boley (10) the only other real contributors.

For Westlands, S. Ewens (27), B. Ford (23) and N. Hallam (15no) put the match to bed with plenty of overs to spare.

In Division 9NW, Huntspill and District 2nds were beaten by Lympsham 2nds.

Huntspill batted first and collected some solid runs through A. Jarvis (32) and T. McCollum (20) to go towards their final score of 130 all out, but it was the away side who proved most effective with bat in hand as R. Ford (67no) and A. Hall (54) stormed towards a winning total of 134-1.

Elsewhere in Division 9NW, Wedmore A lost to Banwell and Churchill 2nds after posting a meagre 69 all out, their highest scorers being C. Curtin (18) and J. Fowle (16) with Banwell’s K. Burgess taking 4- 11.

Banwell reached their target for the loss of only two wickets.

East Huntspill’s Division Five fixture with Hardington and West Coker was cancelled due to the wet weather.
