Somerset Cricket League Division Two

Burnham 113-4 beat Huish & Langport 111 by six wickets

BURNHAM kept their Division Two survival hopes alive with a six wicket victory over Huish & Langport on Saturday.

Jim Bloodworth (46) and Rob Driver (38no) saw Burnham home in just 22 overs, after Brian Brogden (3-12), Jim Annison (2-14) and Darren Aston (2-47) had caused havoc in the Huish ranks.

Batting first, the Burnham bowlers bowled with superb control as Huish struggled to get the scoring rate going.

Mike Green (1-13) and Driver (0-9) kept things tight with the new ball – and they were brilliantly backed up by Annison, Aston, Brogden and Harris, whose overs all went at less than four apiece.

T Crocker (37) and M Skeet (28) top scored for Huish, but only four players made it into double figures as the hosts were bowled out in 41 overs.

P Harris fell early in the Burnham reply to the bowling of T Haggett (3-33), but Bloodworth and Driver soon found their feet and a partnership of 70 all but put the game to bed.

Bloodworth became Haggett’s second victim having scored 46 and Brad House fell without scoring not long after.

W Chapman (1-35) accounted for Ed Booth (1), but J Birkett (5no) joined Driver to see Burnham over the line with 13 overs to spare.
