Tribute Western Counties (N)

Burnham 22, Old Bristolians 23

BURNHAM were beaten for the second week running as they slipped to a narrow defeat at home to Old Bristolians on Saturday.

Battling back from 13-0 down, tries from Richard Muskett, Jordyn Wikiteria and Phil Collins dragged Burnham back into the contest.

But it wasn’t enough for the hosts, as OBs held on for the win.

Having fallen behind early on, Burnham finally got themselves on the scoreboard with a try through Muskett – after being awarded a penalty lineout, Burnham created three successful phases enabling Richard Muskett to scramble forward and place the ball against the post.

The second half followed this strange pattern of events, with Burnham one minute taking the game to the opposition and a few minutes later giving it back.

Wikiteria and Collins both crossed for well-worked tries and two conversions and a penalty from Chaffey kept the scoreline tight, but it wasn’t to be for Burnham who slip to ninth in Western Counties North.

If they wish to survive in this league, Burnham must tighten up their game and keep it simple.

l With Saturday being a rest weekend for local clubs, Burnham return to action at Chosen Hill FP on December 6.
