Wedmore 127 lost to Staplegrove 2s 131-8 by two wickets
WEDMORE suffered a final over defeat at the hands of Staplegrove on Saturday, as the hosts edged home by two wickets.
Wedmore were made to pay for a lacklustre batting display which saw them bowled out for just 127 batting first.
M Hunt (40) and Phil Patch (17) top scored for Wedmore, but when A Charalambus (5) was the last man out, the visitors had failed to bat their allotted overs, dismissed in just 30.2 overs.
D Bailey (3-35), M Dunn (3-18) and J Hodge (3-15) were the pick of the Staplegrove bowlers.
The bowlers staged a huge fight back for Wedmore, with B Halford (2-34), M Wall (3-34) and I Harris (2-15) making early inroads.
But a calm and collected innings from M Dunn (24no) together with 43 from opener G Bishop saw Grove creep home with just three balls and two wickets to spare.
