Wedmore 2nd XI 72 lost to Wembdon Academy 73-1 by nine wickets
THIS was very much an afternoon to forget for Wedmore 2nd XI who slumped to a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Wembdon Academy on Saturday.
The hosts, who played with only nine-men, crumbled to 72 all out in the 24th over, with only three players making double figures.
A Lavender (35), M Lee (10) and J Gamlin (10) scored 65 of the 72 runs between them, while Max Syvret (3-13), P Tilley (3-21) and D Wooldridge (2-18) were the Wembdon wicket-takers.
The reply lasted all of 11 overs, as Syvret (35no) and Will Anning (22no) wasted little time in bringing an end to proceedings.
C Savage was the only batsmen to be dismissed, falling to the bowling of R Hale (1-17) for five.
Wedmore host Lympsham on Saturday, before travelling to Spaxton the following weekend.
