LYMPSHAM and Somerset cricketer Sophie Luff has been named as the ‘Most promising young female cricketer of the year 2015’ by the Cricket Society.

Recently the 22-year-old who plays cricket for Bath Ladies and also for Somerset League side Lympsham, her home village, attended the award ceremony at the Royal Over-Seas League Hotel in London.

Sophie, who scored three centuries in 2015 and helped Somerset Women to gain promotion to Division One in the championship said: “It was a very special oocasion and I’m very proud to receive this award, especially when you look at previous winners which includes our very own Anya Shrubsole back in 2008.

“It has capped off a wonderful season for me personally and hopefully I can really kick on this winter and continue to push for place in the England Women’s Performance Squad.”

Sophie added: “I was interviewed as I collected my award, and asked about how I got into the game, my aspirations moving forward and what I was planning on working on in my game this winter.”
