Burnham United fell to a 3-0 defeat to Watchet Town in the Uhlsport Somerset County League Division One on Saturday.

After a goalless first half the Red and Blacks opened the scoring in the 51st minute. Watchet dispossessed Burnham 30-yards-out, resulting in a three-on-two at the back, and a low ground pass to the edge of the box found its way to Josh Aspey to slot in the bottom left corner.

Watchet made it two in the 81st minute after a shot from Darren Partridge led to a long ball out of the goalkeeper's hands and resulted in a two-on-one situation and Riley Willis drilled the ball home into the bottom right corner.

And two minutes later Willis doubled his goals tally after another error from Burnham led to Watchet getting their third of the afternoon.

"This was a disappointing result that should never of been a 3-0 defeat, we missed several opportunities and I could see the way the game was playing out it was going to be mistakes that were going to cost us which ultimately it did," said manager Steve Hainsby.

"However, we regroup and go again in two weeks against Combe St. Nicholas."
