Cheddar Walking Football Club held and played in their first Somerset FA ladies only walking football tournament at Strode College recently.
Cheddar were represented by Jules Langworthy, Dawn Clarke, Marie O’Ryan, Rosie Tucker, Jaqui Letherby, Jane White and scorer of all their goals Sarah Williams.
Cheddar started with two tough openers against physically strong and experienced sides in Frome and Bristol Badgers but learnt very quickly from the defeats to earn a creditable draw with Weston.
They then got a draw against Taunton and suffered a couple of narrow defeats, including a 1-0 loss to a strong Braunton side.
The quality of football played by the Cheddar side was a delight, and commented upon by all in attendance!
They not only played really well but they played with excellent sportsmanship and attitude, making friends in every game and receiving plaudits from referees in every game!
Cheddar host free walking football sessions every Tuesday at 7pm at the Kings Astro on a Tuesday at 7pm.
