JERRY Brueford was the final card to be returned in the March Medal on Saturday and it was the best one of the day.

His nett 66 secured him top spot in Division Two and with it won him the Presidents Putter awarded to the best overall score in the event.

On a brutal day he took advantage of the slightly calmer afternoon conditions to post his winning score and win by 2 from Mark Elvins who was the only other player to break par.

For much of the day Ian Adams was the only sub 70 return with his nett 69 such was the difficulty of the strong winds and frequent heavy showers.

This did see him win the Division Three Medal however ahead of Roy Fletcher on 71. Club Captain Dan Broom had the lowest gross score of the day with his gross 77 becoming a nett 71 to win Division One by 2 from Dave Jolly.

Another windy day ensued on Sunday and just 2 of the 37 entrants managed to beat their handicaps in the Charles Cooke March Hare competition.

Taking a convincing victory and the silverware that goes with it was Kevin Hollyhead who accumulated a superb 44 points in the stableford event. This was 6 clear of runner up Zak Jones who produced an equally impressive score of 39pts off of his single figure handicap.

Third place went to another of the Hollyhead clan as Kevin's father Brian posted a score of 36 points to claim third. The fourth and final prize on the day went to Murray Parsons on 35.

Earlier in the week Steve Barker's run of excellent form showed no sign of slowing down as the left hander added another win to his record in the latest Seniors competition.

He completed The Young Pape Bogey Trophy in a superb score of +8 on Thursday morning which gave him a comfortable victory by 4 over Dave Mann.

Mann found himself as the filling in a 'Barker sandwich' at the end though as third place went to the right handed version as Neil Barker ended the day on +2.
